Context
Client description: A global recruitment agency
Opportunity: Understand where its employees across offices (geos) are spending bulk of their time on a day to day basis with a mandate was to identify productivity guzzlers and recommend productivity improvement opportunities
Our Approach:
- Used a time-motion study framework to understand where and how employees spend their time
- Detailed in depth discussion with 100+ employees (mix of high & solid performers, and mix of junior, mid level and senior employees) across 7 offices to understand daily routine, time spent in different activities, challenges faced and improvement areas
- Classified activities into 3 broad areas: client engagement, candidate management & internal admin
- Mapped employee work time allocation across these activities with various parameters like geography, level of seniority
- Based on the time allocation, identified productivity guzzlers and potential time loss because of those
- Identified several productivity improvement opportunities and classified them into 4 categories: outsourcing / hiring of dedicated resources, tech / infra improvement / upgrades, eliminate / refine processes, & training / skilling / behavioral changes
- Developed hypothesise and validated the above by doing an online survey of employees across all geos
Praxis Value Delivered:
- Suggested standardized time allocation for fee earners across client engagement, candidate management and internal administration related activities
- Successfully identified 30 potential opportunities for improving employee productivity across 7 locations, which could lead to ~20% productivity improvement
